Art-deco style
Architecturally-designed in the 1930s, Newcastle Memorial Park is a true product of its times, with its architectural significance and heritage features readily acknowledged by local historians and heritage groups.
Newcastle Memorial Park has ensured that as the years have passed, we have preserved the original splendour of our location, while updating our facilities from time to time, to include the latest technologies.
All care has been taken during refurbishment activities to retain the heritage and art-deco elements of our chapels, features that have become part of family memory for hundreds of families from the Greater Newcastle area.
Family Connection
Having served the City of Newcastle and the Hunter region for more than seventy-five years, almost every family will have a connection to us. We are also easily accessed, as we are conveniently located on Anderson Drive, near the junction of the M1 motorway and John Renshaw Drive.
Our History
Newcastle Memorial Park is one of the largest and most beautiful independently-owned memorial spaces in the Hunter region.
Formerly used as farmland, in the 1930s, a consortium of local business people formed Cremations Newcastle, which had a vision of turning the Anderson Drive location into parkland suitable for cremation memorials.
In 2004 and to meet the needs of the communities we serve, Newcastle Memorial Park began offering lawn burials, and in 2013 headstone burials were also made available to families.
Originally designed to challenge the dour notions of what a cemetery looks like, Newcastle Memorial Park is a wide, open, light and airy space; a peaceful place set amongst a sprawling natural setting.
Compare us to other cemeteries in the area, which can be bewildering and crowded places, and you will see that Newcastle Memorial Park remains true to its original vision and sets a new standard for cemeteries in the area.
